Quick review of some spots we like: on the pricy side: Uchi, Lambert’s, La Condesa, and on the cheap side: Nueva Onda, Juan in a Million, Iron Works. Now, for a place we hate, maybe more than any other place in town: Parkside. We ate there once when it first opened since our Fox news friend Keri B. showcased them. We were severely disappointed in their service (they discriminated against us by giving us stemless glassware while providing nice stemmed glassware to older diners - aside, there is a now a note on their menu that they only provide stemless unless otherwise requested to maintain “casual” atmosphere), food (salty, small servings) and atmosphere (fake exposed brick?). At the urging of our friend Mike L. who dines there weekly, we tried again during sxsw since we were stranded on 6th street. Best Wurst is 10X better, which is why there was a line 20 deep for the wieners and open tables at Parkside. We ordered “specialty” drinks which were flat and lacked bartending care. The burgers were mini and overcooked. And the food was still way too salty so much so that a neighboring table complained to us about it. We recently received an email from their PR person that they wanted to host a food bloggers meetup. We are unlikely to attend since it will not change this review and we won’t review courtesy tastings to maintain our unbiased opinions. If we go it will be to ask what they are thinking with their persnickety attitude, cheesy ambiance and salty bar food dressed up as fancy gastropub grub.

He says: The multitude of fresh oysters is their one redeeming trait.

She says: Saltier than the Dead Sea! I wish I could have floated away from 6th St. before I made the error in trying the even salty ice cream dessert.
